Applewood Awards $1,000 to Back the Blue K-9 Force
Applewood awarded $1,000 as part of their monthly Caring Community Giveaway to Back the Blue K-9 Force.
Back the Blue K-9 Force (BTBK9F) is an amazing organization based in Denver that provides financial support to law enforcement K-9 units. Founders Diane Lewis, Jennifer Leggatt and Judy Anderson met through their shared passion for police dogs on the neighborhood app, Nextdoor. After learning that local K-9 units needed newer and lighter weight protective vests costing an average of $2,000 each, they jumped into action creating Back the Blue K-9 Force.
“Back the Blue K-9 Force is doing really important and unique work in our community and we’re thrilled to support them. K-9 officers work incredibly hard and deserve to have the proper gear to do their job,” said John Ward, Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric president.
Protective gear for police dogs is incredibly expensive and more times than not, there is not enough money in the budget to provide the essentials for these hardworking dogs. So far, BTBK9F has outfitted three departments with new K-9 vests, funded lifesaving surgeries and medical care, provided K-9 trauma kits, breakaway muzzles, protective footwear and much more.
You can support Back the Blue K-9 Force at any one of their upcoming fundraisers including eating at the Modern Market Eatery in the Arapahoe Market Shopping Center on October 1st from 5-8pm where 50% of your meal will go directly to BTBK9F.
