Applewood Plumbing’s $1,000 giveaway goes to We Don’t Waste
Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric awards the January $1,000 Caring Community Giveaway to We Don’t Waste.
We Don’t Waste provides quality food to community non-profits from Denver venues, restaurants, caterers, and events. Their mission is to support the community and the environment by reclaiming and redistributing food to those in need.
One in six Colorado kids are food insecure and 40% of food produced is thrown away. We Don’t Waste was founded in 2009 in an effort to address these important issues and is now one of the largest food-recovery organizations in Colorado. Since its inception in 2009, the team at We Don’t Waste has recovered more than 68 million servings of food.
“Applewood is proud to sponsor this organization,” said John Ward, Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric president. “We want to do our part in supporting these kinds of community and environmental efforts.”
We Don’t Waste focuses on providing perishable items including fresh produce, lean proteins, breads and bakery items and dairy products. The non-profit works with organizations like food banks, soup kitchens, community centers and homeless shelters. Organizations who serve veterans, children, the homeless, the elderly and the working poor regularly receive nutritious food from We Don’t Waste. Their assistance expands across the Denver metro, up and down the front range, and as far as the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
“The $1,000 donation from Applewood will help provide additional meals to those in need,” said Kyle Endres, We Don’t Waste’s Director of Development. “This keeps good food out of the landfill and gets it into the hands of hungry families and individuals in our community.”
Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric has served the Denver and Boulder metros for more than 40 years as a premier provider of 24 hour plumbing services. We’re proud to have been named to the Denver Post’s Lists of Top Workplaces and been named the Editor’s Choice for Best Customer Service in 5280 Magazine’s Top of the Town issue. We provide the citizens of Denver and Boulder with the plumbing repair services they need and are always happy to give back to the communities we serve.
