Colorado Mental Wellness Network recent winner of Applewood Plumbing’s $1,000 giveaway
Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric awards the April $1,000 Caring Community Giveaway to Colorado Mental Wellness Network.
Colorado Mental Wellness Network (CMWN) is a state-wide, peer-run organization that supports people with mental health conditions who are seeking recovery, wellness, meaning and balance. The organization is committed to providing individuals with tools and self-help information to achieve their goals while changing community perceptions of mental illness through advocacy.
“Colorado Mental Wellness Network is well-deserving of the award because of their efforts in providing assistance to those with mental health conditions,” said John Ward, president of Applewood.
Colorado Mental Wellness Network supports individuals by providing evidence-based, skill-building workshops and training. Their services include peer employment training, wellness planning and self-care workshops, and an advocacy campaign targeted to employers who treat mental health the same as physical health. Last year CMWN provided over 150 people with WRAP® training, prepared over 30 individuals for peer work and reached well over 11,000 people with advocacy tools and information through their e-newsletter, social media and outreach at events.
Additional educational workshops include wellness-based support groups, peer coach/specialist certification training, advocacy training and classes on creating individualized wellness plans.
“We are funded by individual donations and grants so we are very thankful for Applewood’s $1,000 donation,” said Amanda Kearney-Smith, Executive Director of Colorado Mental Wellness Network.
With the help of Applewood’s $1,000 Caring Community Giveaway, Colorado Mental Wellness Network will be able to provide scholarships to 10 individuals seeking support and tools for managing their mental health condition through wellness planning workshops.
Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric has served the Denver/Boulder Metro area for more than 40 years and is proud to have been named to the Denver Post’s Lists of Top Workplaces and the Editor’s Choice for Best Customer Service in 5280 Magazine’s Top of the Town issue.
