Jefferson County Library Foundation Receives $1,000 in 12 in 12 Community Giveaway
The Jefferson County Library Foundation’s mission is to support and enrich the capabilities, resources and services of the Jefferson County Public Library through fundraising and advocacy efforts that benefit the diverse community.
“Applewood is honored to support the community efforts of Jefferson County Library Foundation,” said John Ward, Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric president. “Whenever we can help an organization that helps educate our community, we are overjoyed.”
With the support of the Foundation, the 10 Jefferson County libraries are able to provide key services well beyond the traditional book-loaning program. These programs include: Library2You home delivery services, the Traveling Children’s Library, the annual Summer Reading program, the iconic traveling Bookmobile; and the new Computer-mobile, where computers are brought to senior centers and nursing homes in order to offer training to seniors who don’t otherwise have access to this type of communication.
“We are very grateful that the Jeffco Library Foundation was selected to receive this honor and these special funds,” said Jo Schantz, Jefferson County Library Foundation Executive Director. “The $1,000 will be used to help support Jefferson County Public Library programs such as our American Sign Language Story Times, for children with hearing disabilities, and much more,” said Schantz.
Over the past nine years, Applewood has given more than $95,000 in giveaways to charities and nonprofits in the Denver area.
